For To Us…Prince of Peace

and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

“Can I just get some peace around here?” Do you ever hear yourself saying that? We all just need a little peace in our lives and in this world. And we need it now. Especially in 2020!

Consider the definition of peace: a state of tranquility, quiet, absence of conflict, harmony between people, freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions. We cry out “Oh Lord, just give me some peace!” Well, God answered our cry by giving us His Son, Jesus. As we celebrate Christmas, we can remember that “For to us” is the Prince of Peace.

Jesus came to bring us peace with God –

Jesus came to give us peace in this world –

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.
In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Jesus came to give us peace rather than worry and anxiety-

We can have perfect peace when we keep our minds fixed on the Prince of Peace. We can have peace when we take our troubles and worry to Him in prayer. And when we respond to God with gratitude, He promises we will have peace. I have found that if peace is lacking in my frazzled life, my mind may not be focused on God, I may not be praying continually about all things, and I may not have an attitude of gratitude because peace is available in Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

Merry Christmas and blessings for a peace-filled 2021!
