31 Days Of Writing Challenge

One definition of the word challenge is “something that by its nature or character serves as a call to battle, contest, special effort, etc…”.

This struggling writer joined a 31 Day Writing Challenge in which I am to write for at least 5 minutes every day beginning October 1. Now, this would be easy for me if writing included a grocery list and paying bills but for this wannabe, struggling writer, putting pen to paper, or in my case, clicking the keyboard every day will definitely, require special effort and could be a battle as the definition reads.  But any time you do something of value effort will be required, right?

I accept the challenge knowing there will be frustration, tears, sweat, and maybe even a word or two my mom would not approve of but I know God has called me to speak and write so speak AND write I will do. I know from past experience my tendency is to quit when the challenge gets tough or I grow weary. I can make a list of all the things I’ve started and didn’t finish in my life so I’d love for you to come with me on this journey and encourage me along the way. I’m not looking for praise but just knowing you are holding me accountable will go a long way in helping me run this 31-day writing marathon!

What will I write about? I want to share a story I don’t often share. A story that happened years ago but I think about almost every day. A story that left me broken and sad and sometimes bitter, one I’d like to think I’ve healed from but in reality, I haven’t. You see, we all have dreams but our dreams don’t always come true. And broken dreams lead to broken hearts. But every day as I stand in the heap of brokenness I know I am not alone because God stands with me. And that’s the story I so want you to know.

So come with me. You may laugh and you may cry but can I tell you about Jesus? Because Jesus was broken too but his brokenness lead to the greatest victory ever and that victory is available for you and me.

Thank you for sharing the journey with me!

Robin
