your HEART is well
Nine months post Open Heart Surgery to replace my Bicuspid Aortic Heart Valve, the surgeon declares my heart “fixed” and tells me I don’t need to see a cardiologist anymore. Well, that’s certainly good news. All my life I had a murmur and now it’s gone and I don’t need a cardiologist. My heart has been healed physically, thanks to God and the surgeon that HE gifted with skills and tools to do HIS work. No more cardiology appointments. I have a new valve and a physically well heart.
I am thankful for the physical healing of my heart but I am even more thankful for the spiritual healing of my heart. And while God has “fixed” my heart by giving me a new heart and a new spirit, I know I must visit the “physician” every day. Everyday, I must spend time with Him for my spiritual health. Everyday, I must stay in His Word to keep my heart healthy. And everyday, I must confess the sin that if left unconfessed makes my heart sick.
God is Jehovah-Rophe – The LORD Who Heals. He healed my heart the moment I trusted in Jesus Christ for my salvation. He removed my hard heart and replaced it with a new heart to know Him and love Him. He gave me His Spirit to help me obey Him and follow Him.
With the gift of a new heart, why would I not want to visit the greatest “cardiologist” everyday?? I love to sleep in but weekdays I arise at 5:15 am to make sure I have time to spend with the “Great Physician”. It’s that important for me to stay well. My appointment is made. I need it. I’ll be there!
“And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.”
Ezekiel 36:26,27
