I often wonder if today would be different had my yesterday been shaped by different choices.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So many times, I remind myself of how many mistakes from my past have made me what I am today. My yesterday\u2019s regrets have somehow crept into today.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What if I had applied myself more in high school? What if I had stayed in college? What if I had made better career choices? Saved better for retirement? Worked harder to maintain friendships? Spent more time with those I care about the most. Loved more and judged less? On and on it goes with regret.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I wonder if Rahab the Prostitute had regrets from her past that shaped her \u201ctoday\u201d. Was it her yesterday that made her a prostitute? Was it hurt, shame, anger, the bitterness of her past that drove her into the arms of many a man? Or, was it just one bad decision?<\/p>\n

As I reflect on Rahab\u2019s life, I believe that it was exactly her yesterday that led her into the arms of God. And I am reminded of, and appreciate, the grace that God extends to us today despite our yesterday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rahab\u2019s yesterday involved prostitution and life in a pagan culture. But her \u201ctoday\u201d moved her into God\u2019s family and transformed her into a mother and an ancestor of Jesus Christ. No matter what our yesterday is, God\u2019s forgiveness and grace bring us to the today He has planned for us. And knowing the character of God as I do, our today is always the best day.<\/p>\n
