Psalm 103:13-14 (NIV)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs a father has compassion on his children,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

for he knows how we are formed,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    he remembers that we are dust.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was recommended that we see a specialist as a local university medical center. This would be the doctor that would decide if further treatment would help our chances to have another child. An appointment was scheduled and on that day in January we got dressed and ready to leave. I remember Rod looking so nice in his sport coat. I\u2019m sure I remember it so well because he only dressed that way for special occasions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of us don’t \u201cdress up\u201d to go to the doctor. But I know that Rod, in his way, was recognizing the importance and significance of the appointment and wanted to be dressed appropriately. After all, we were meeting a well known<\/g> doctor! Shouldn\u2019t we look special and worthy of his help?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Worthy. I think that is the key word. If this doctor was so well known, would he be willing to help us? Were we good enough to \u201cqualify\u201d for his expertise? I think Rod dressed up because we both felt that maybe we weren\u2019t worthy of this expert\u2019s help. Similarly, many of us feel so unworthy of God\u2019s love. Unworthy of his care. Unworthy of his interest. We attempt  to dress ourselves up with good works, busyness in the church, knowledge and degrees and any other thing that makes us feel or appear worthy of God\u2019s love and help. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Did the doctor care about our dream? Were we big enough or good enough or special enough to qualify for his help? Did he notice us? We ask the same thing of God. Does he care? Does he notice? Does he understand our troubles? Are we special to Him?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thankfully, God does care. We may not think He notices or cares. But He does.\u00a0 He created us. He gave us emotions and feelings. He knows our troubles. He understands our pain. We are precious to Him. The truth is, we can\u2019t be good enough, look good enough or even \u201cqualify\u201d for His care. But because of His mercy and grace, we don\u2019t have to be. God gave His Son because He is our perfect and compassionate Father.\u00a0And His Son, Jesus Christ, makes the unworthy worthy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
